What HOLOVERSE is

HOLOVERSE is an interactive showcase of six fictional “realms” rendered with layered, depth-shifting holographic effects. The hero uses eight stacked layers (stars, nebula, far and mid terrain, foreground, particles, glow and lighting) that move at different speeds to create parallax depth. Each realm can also be viewed as a true 3D voxel volume.

All visuals are generated in the browser with CSS and three.js. There are no photographs or AI-generated images.

The six realms

Cosmic

  • Nebula Forge (#nebula-forge)
  • Stellar Drift (#stellar-drift)
  • Void Garden (#void-garden)

Terrestrial

  • Aurora Ocean (#aurora-ocean)
  • Crystal Canopy (#crystal-canopy)
  • Ember Plateau (#ember-plateau)

Example: opening /#aurora-ocean goes straight to the Aurora Ocean detail view. The Share button copies that deep link to your clipboard.

Controls

  • Pointer: moving the mouse shifts the layers. Movement is capped at about 3% of the viewport and eased with a spring so it stays subtle.
  • Touch and scroll: dragging and scrolling also drive the parallax.
  • Gyroscope: on phones, tap “Enable tilt”. iOS shows a permission prompt. Your resting angle is calibrated, and a small dead zone stops jitter.
  • Keyboard: Tab moves to the realm cards and Enter or Space opens one. The Back button returns to the grid.
  • Motion toggle: the “Motion” button in the header turns parallax off and on.
  • Language: the EN / ES button switches every interface string.

Voxel mode

Voxel mode loads a 64 × 64 × 64 grid in which roughly 12% of the cells are filled with cubes. A slowly orbiting camera views the volume. Each realm has a fixed seed, so a realm always produces the same volume. The 3D engine only downloads when you open voxel mode.

If your device does not support WebGL, a text notice is shown instead and the rest of the app keeps working.

Accessibility and reduced motion

If your system has “reduce motion” turned on, parallax and the voxel camera orbit stay still. Hero text sits on a dark scrim so it stays readable over the animated layers. Every control can be reached by keyboard, and a skip link jumps straight to the main content.

Privacy

HOLOVERSE does not collect or send any personal data. Device-orientation readings are used only on your device to move the layers. Your language choice may be saved in your browser's local storage.

Limitations

  • The realms are fictional. They are art pieces, not depictions of real places or science.
  • Voxel volumes are random fields, not sculpted landscapes.
  • On low-power phones, voxel mode can be slow to load.
